David Burke Townhouse NYC - Art Dish w/ Awesome Service
當美國菜餚遇上裝飾藝術
...

David Burke Townhouse restaurant⇨ trendy design but tiny entrance. The look & feel of the restaurant is immediately inviting and glamorous cozy. These well-trained employees were not only very friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable but also able to maintain great service no matter how busy they were. We had no less than 4-5 servers that evening, & had perfect vantage point to watch each run into each other several times on that busy night/limited space.

What a Beautiful Butter w/ Rosemary Bread - It looks so cool! The bread is in a mini metal baking pan with a twig of rosemary on top.
The pan fits perfectly on the little plate that was on the table (so this was what the plate was for). OMG! I was so enjoyed myself having their fresh baked bread...I finished 3 warm bread.

The Bread also came w/ butter that presented on a piece of salt rock, the butter that they carved into a flower.

I can't help but wonder "did all dish decor here look like art sculptures?"

Appetizer:

Market Salad w/ walnuts, Asian pear, crispy potato, bacon, & goal cheese - didn't try it (allergy to walnuts).

Honey Beurre Fondue - delicious but small portion (like maybe 1/3 or 1/2 the size of a coffee cup.)
Tomato Soup w/ Grilled Cheese Croutons - it tasted pretty good, thick, and yummy but still small portion.
Seared Scallops w/braised endive - warm scallop tasted fine but they only gave 1 (which means not "scallopS" that be written on the menu).

Entree:

Seawater-Soaked Roasted Chicken - A friend did trade me bites for his chicken which was a bit salted but still fine. Some part of chicken was a little bit too dry though.

The Lamb Cassoulet - This was very very SALTY. This dish reminded me of The Colorado Lamb Two Ways at TABLA Restaurant . OH~Chef~Dear Mr. Hara...please hold the salt. There was NO need for that and actually ruined the taste of the dish. ' O`h~~~I woke up the next morning STILL thirsty from the sodium-laden food...

Dessert:

Chocolate Caramel Mousse - the mousse served in a martini glass was very GOOD. This caramel mousse was presented in a dense rectangular form, wasn't too sweet which I liked, coffee ice cream nip on the top was very creative as well.

Butterscotch Panna Cotta - I don't recommend this dessert. It tasted a bit bitter and lacked complexity in flavor. The ice cream was nothing special, either.

Above desserts can't satisfy me (I got a sweet tooth). I asked the dessert menu again and the waiter recommended me the Apple Tart which had a great crust with caramel flavor.
Suddenly, I saw a very interesting dessert (Candy Tree?) have been served to other tables. WOW~ their signature Lollipop Tree looks amazing to me. How could I miss it!?

The Lollipop Cheese Cake Tree was very cute. The tree also came with bubblegum whip cream. The whip cream(bubblegum flavored) freak my friend out but me. It tasted very light and good.

Pros: Great service, good sommelier, hot foods (love appetizer & dessert), reasonable price.

Cons: Small dining space.

Comment :

I suppose I have dined in enough restaurants to know that depending on what time you go, what's happening with seating, orders and staff, you will get a different experience every time. To judge so harshly on a restaurant based on one experience is pretentious and not really fair.
