David Burke Townhouse 4+ Star Service
NYC大衛伯克の4星級服務
David Burke Townhouse, one of my favorite fine dining restaurants in Manhattan, sent me a T.G.I.S newsletter about their special event for weekend. David Burke can not only design an exceptional menu that is both mesmerizing to the palate as well as the eye but also deliver variety of desserts to satisfy everyone's sweet tooth. However, this dinner menu seems like a crazy good deal so that I can't help to give it a try.
- The beard in a tiny little bread pan as usual with beautifully crafted butter. The bread was good but I prefer the one I had before (the bread with rosemary twig in the center for garnish.)
Appetizer:
- Short Rib Ravioli Gratinee w/wild mushroom & truffle créme frάiche - short rib ravioli was a little bit salty.
- Sweet Corn Soup - Yummy! I
can have this soup with piquillo pepper every day if they didn't put sour
romesco mousseline.
Main course:
- Wild Salmon w/horseadish gnocchi, apples & curried wilted watercress - I had a decent size cut of salmon. The surface of salmon was lightly crunchy and the salmon itself was flaky and cooked just right. It was Delicious & done to perfection.
- Seawater-Soaked Roasted Organic Chicken w/herb garden potato purée, roasted vegetables and pomery jus - Under crispy chicken skin, the chicken itself was a bit salted as I expected the seawater-soaked chicken should be. One of pieces was a little bit too dry but still acceptable okay & BIG portion size.
I really like the Roasted Vegetables but the Herb Garden Potato was just okay. In this "Bargain" prix fixe, what can I complain?
PS: The kitchen was out of real 'blanquette' for the entree, we end up to choose salmon and chicken. The Wild King Salmon alone was $34 (not sure my salmon was the Wild King Salmon...) and Seawater-Soaked Chicken was $29 on their regular menu. But this didn't give them the license to skimp in portion size or quality.
Dessert:
- Again, Butterscotch Panna Cotta wasn't light enough. I couldn't even take a second spoon full. Big disappoint! I am a huge pannacotta fan ya~The ice cream & crunchy peanuts was just okay.
- Chocolate Caramel Mousse (salty & sweet caramel, cocoa nib ice cream on the top) - the mousse I had was too sweet for me. It tasted like whole pure caramel at this time. Oh~my dear chef, did you pour a whole bag of sugar into this dessert? I felt my sugar overload tonight for the week yo...
PS: The panna cotta & chocolate mousse were complimentary from the restaurant. Maybe I should not complain about it... - That night I still order their innovation dessert "Cheesecake Lollipop Tree" due to its pleasing to the eye than to the tongue (my friend wasn't a fan of Lollipop & claimed it was a gimmick.) What a treat!
Comment: The food portions were definitely generous. Even though I loved the most dishes I had, I have to admit that a decent three-course was a little too much for me to handle (20 bucks for 3-course prix fixe with 4+Star service, I never though this would happen to me in NYC, not in a million years!)
